I have been
singing gospel music
since I was a small child. The earliest memory is my paternal
grandmother, Eddie B.(my namesake) would make my siblings and I
stand in front of small and large congregations and sing in church. We
were known as the Bradford Family in the earlier years of my life.
However, time and space have separated us but we still reminisce
about the good old days. My grandmother is deceased now. However, I
will never forget the great part she played in helping me acknowledge
the special gift given to me by God.
A few
years ago, my family went through a very difficult
time. My last grandparent (my maternal
grandmother) Charity Mae, who
loved and taught us all so much, became ill and died of heart disease.
My grandmother used to love to hear me sing. During her illness and
after her death, I experienced so many different emotions. Emotions of
gratitude and sadness dominated me. I was grateful that my grandmother,
a strong woman of God, shared so much of her life with me. Sad because
I knew I would not see her again on this side.
After singing at my grandmother’s funeral, so many people came up to me
after the funeral and encouraged me to sing professionally. The
encouragement from the attendants at the funeral and the knowledge that
God had a higher calling on my life, confirmed the word that I knew God
had already spoken to me so many times before. That word was to
take His message through song all over the world. My present
singing ministry was birth out of a desire to continue to fulfill the
call of God for my life. That call is to bring as may souls to
Christ as I possible can.
